YOUR SIDE OF TOWN
words and music by Kasey Anderson
we were the distant rumbling
we were the cold that comes at night
you were always chasing something
i was always half a step behind
i never meant to stay
but somehow i was always hanging around
losing every endless, hollow day
on your side of town
you kept my pockets empty
i was keeping my eyes wide
you were dealing pride and envy
i got my other fix on the side
now i’m getting down to pray
to the nearest thing to god i found
anything to keep myself away
from your side of town
you built yourself a tower
i stood and watched the whole damn thing go up
now you’re living on the blood of cowards
and it still just ain’t enough
but, hey, i made it out alive
now all i do is walk around
wondering why no one else survived
your side of town
